Arabinex® is an immune booster that has a pleasing taste that is acceptible for most all animals. It is excellent for pediatric use as well as acute viral infections. Arabinex® Thorne Research Ingredients: Each scoop contains 4.7 grams Arabinogalactans 100 Grams net weight per bottle Indications: Mucopolysaccharides have been shown to boost the immune system. Larch arabinogalactan is composed of greater than 98% arabinogalactan, a highly branched polysaccharide consisting of a galactan backbone with side-chains of galactose and arabinose sugars. Larch arabinogalactan is an excellent source of dietary fiber, and has been approved as such by the FDA. It has been shown to increase the production of short-chain fatty acids, principally butyrate and proprionate, and has been shown to decrease the generation and absorption of ammonia within the intestinal tract (ammonia is a toxic product). Evidence also indicates consumption of larch arabinogalactan has a significant effect on enhancing beneficial gut microflora, specifically increasing anaerobes such as Bifidobacteria and Lactobacillus. Larch arabinogalactan has several interesting properties which appear to make it an ideal adjunctive supplement to consider in cancer protocols. Experimental studies have indicated larch arabinogalactan can stimulate natural killer (NK) cell cytotoxicity, enhance other functional aspects of the immune system, and inhibit the metastasis of tumor cells to the liver. The immune-enhancing properties also suggest an array of clinical uses, both in preventative medicine, due to its ability to build a more responsive immune system, and in clinical medicine, as a therapeutic agent in conditions associated with lowered immune function, decreased NK activity, or chronic viral infection. Arabinex is soluble in water, has no adverse taste, and can be easily fed mixed in with food or even added to water bowls. Arabinex in Animals We like this product for all animals, but especially birds and cats for purely practical reasons. These two species can be hard to give supplements to, and this product is a good immune booster that is easy to place in food or water. Cats often refuse supplements that are placed in their food and Arabinex is so palatable you can expect most cats will take it in soft foods. Birds, likewise, may not readily take supplements in food. Arabinex is water soluble and can be placed in the water bowl if needed. It is still preferable to feed Arabinex in soft foods, where you feed such a small amount of food that you know your bird will eat the entire amount of food offered (thus you know what amount of Arabinex you gave your bird). Dosage: Dogs: 1-25 lbs=1/2 tsp daily 25-50 lbs=1/2 tsp to 1 tsp daily 50-100 lbs= 1 - 2 tsp daily Cats: 1/2 tsp daily Birds: Small (under 100 grams)= 1/32 tsp daily on food Medium (100 to 250 grams)= 1/16 tsp daily on food Large (250 to 600 grams)= 1/8 tsp daily food Birds over 600 grams= 1/8 tsp for each 500 gms of body weight on food If you want to place in the water instead of placing on food, use 2 tsp for each 4 ounce of water; change water twice daily and add new Arabinex at each water change
